ECABC COVID-19 UPDATE: BC GOVERNMENT DECLARES CONSTRUCTION AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE
This morning the BC Government released a list of “essential services” during the pandemic; the construction industry is included in this designation. For a full list of essential services, please click here.
Developed by Emergency Management BC in consultation with other government ministries and the provincial health officer (PHO), this list of essential services during the COVID-19 pandemic is intended to provide clarification.
In consultation with the PHO, these services should and are encouraged to remain open. They must, however, follow the orders and guidance provided by the PHO to ensure safe operations and reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. In the case of construction, this means continuing to ensure that there are not 50+ people in one specific place at a given time, minimizing meetings of 50+ people, practicing physical distancing, etc.
