Overview
Located near the largest transportation hub in Downtown Vancouver, the newly redesigned 601 West Hastings 25-storey office tower has set the standard for the regeneration within the area. Mac’s II Agencies worked alongside Smith + Andersen, in conjunction with B+H Architects and Protec Installations Group, to help illuminate the sculpted overhang prominently featured on the building’s corner plaza.
On route to being deemed a LEED Canada-CS Gold building, the beautifully sculpted organic ceiling is complimented by Kelvix LED Tape Lighting, which was strategically integrated into the curved wooden soffits. The strips of light amplify the stunning architecture and add to the strong streetscape presence which invites all those around to the community plaza area – day or night.
Due to the curvaceousness of the overhang, the Mac’s II team strategically recommended LED Tape Lights as the ideal lighting fixture solution. LED Tape Lights have the perfect flexibility for effortlessly mounting along curvatures and bends of varying degrees. In addition, due to the tape lights being LED they are highly energy efficient, have a longer lighting lifespan and are durable in outdoor environments.
This visual and innovative build by B+H has been recognized as a 2022 Finalist for the NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Award for Best Office Development. An award granted annually to top office projects based on quality, functionality, innovation and sustainability.
