Located in Vancouver, BC, the Beachhouse Garden Suite, designed by Lindsay Eby Interiors, embodies modern, casual sophistication. The vision for this space was to create a bright, clean, and inviting atmosphere through the use of natural materials and sleek, minimalist detailing. Mac’s II Agencies expert lighting consultant, Cairn Allen, worked closely with Lindsay Eby to carefully craft a lighting plan that would enhance the suite’s aesthetic and functionality. With the challenge of lower ceiling heights, we aimed to create a bright, airy space while minimizing the reliance on standard downlights.

The kitchen, a focal point of the design, features indirect LED strip lighting from BL Lighting, integrated into the millwork to elegantly bookend the cabinetry. This unique solution was necessary due to the structural constraints above the range, providing task lighting where standard techniques couldn’t be used. Complementing this, WAC Lighting’s compact Aether Atomic round pinhole trimless downlights blend seamlessly into the ceiling, offering focused illumination that enhances the sleek, modern aesthetic.

Adding to the kitchen’s lighting innovation, the Calipso Ceiling fixture from Artemide brings a striking visual element with its organic honeycomb-like diffuser. Despite its compact 3-inch footprint, the Calipso delivers over 2800 lumens over the island, ensuring bright and effective illumination without overwhelming the space.

Moving into the hallway, we encountered the continued challenge of limited height and existing structure. PureEdge Lighting’s Verge Ceiling provided the perfect solution. Running in 9-foot lengths along the edges, this modern fixture frames the hallway with a warm, inviting glow, creating an illusion of space without the need for a ceiling drop or structural adjustments. Similarly, the TruCirque from PureEdge Lighting serves as a captivating centerpiece in the living room. Its 6ft diameter, seamlessly installed into the drywall, adds dimension to the space while casting a warm, dim glow that enhances the room’s character.

The bathroom continues the theme of understated elegance with BL Lighting integrated beneath the floating vanity, providing soft illumination that highlights the custom design. Aldabra’s Punto recessed spotlight offers waterproof functionality with its stainless steel, satin-finish exterior, ensuring both style and durability in the bathroom.

Every lighting decision was carefully tailored to match the modern, airy feel of the Beachhouse Garden Suite, adding to the charm and flow of the space.
