Overview
In the heart of downtown Vancouver, The Butterfly has quickly emerged as a global architectural moment, an iconic addition to the skyline that continues to captivate people around the world. Developed by Westbank, this 600,000 sq. ft. mixed-use project pairs a striking new 57-storey luxury market tower with the careful heritage upgrade, rehabilitation, and expansion of Vancouver’s historic First Baptist Church, originally built in 1911.
Inspired by the ephemeral nature of clouds, the tower’s sculpted form establishes a bold new landmark at the gateway to the West End, where contemporary design and heritage architecture meet at street level.
Mac’s II Agencies supported the project through the procurement and supply of select lighting solutions, helping reinforce the building’s meticulous, detail-driven approach. In the parkade, Canadian-made Axis Lighting Sculpt pendant-mounted linear fixtures in a white finish bring clarity and consistency to the arrival and circulation experience, elevating an often-overlooked space with quiet precision.
Together, architecture and light make The Butterfly a new signature on Vancouver’s skyline, designed to be experienced up close and remembered from afar.
