^{Langford, BC}Indigenous Perspective Society

The Indigenous Perspective Society: Centre of Excellence in Community Education (IPS), based in Langford, BC, is a non-for-profit social enterprise that’s been supporting Indigenous children, families, and communities for over 30 years. Their pre-existing building, a former die-casting shop, needed a transformation that would allow the society to expand their safe space and further opportunities to foster deeper connections.

HeroWork Victoria, recognized for transforming charitable organization buildings that reflect its unique abilities, began its Radical Renovation project with IPS in Fall of 2021.

Being inspired by the insurmountable work both charities continue to impart, the entire Mac’s II Agencies team was honoured to provide our lighting services in combined action with AES Engineering. From lighting design concepts to procurement, we were able to meet the quick turnaround time ensuring IPS’s essential services to the Vancouver Island community weren’t deeply impacted.

• Liteline’s LUNA can be seen throughout the newly configured spaces, recessed in a black finish.
• The SlimLED, by Liteline, was chosen for its ability to fit into tight applications, such as the circular drop ceilings found throughout hallways.
• BL flexFORM, from BL Lighting — an architectural linear LED strip lighting system, was used to backlight wooden panels hung from the wall, giving off the appearance of custom wall sconces.

The newly configured space also features high-quality fixtures from Cooper Lighting Solutions: Metalux, and Above All — they all complement the sustainable and culturally relevant design features.
