Surf Grove Campground is Tofino’s top-rated campground and the only campground at Canada’s #1 Surf Beach, Cox Bay. Surf Grove redefines camping with its high-quality amenities and attentive service. With 135 fully-serviced RV campsites, 64 semi-serviced campsites, and RV rentals, all situated just steps away from the sand and surf this unique location and thoughtful design caters to outdoor enthusiasts!

To enhance the experience further, Surf Grove Campground introduced a custom wood-framed administration office and reception space. Inspired by Nordic aesthetics, the building features wood siding, a metal roof, a sunken outdoor living room with a fireplace for socializing, and, opposite the site check-in, a basic camp and surfing provisions area.

The project’s lighting design was entrusted to Mac’s II Agencies, which collaborated closely with key stakeholders from inspiration to installation. Despite a tight three-week turnaround, the team ensured the project’s success while adhering to a conscious budget. Translating ideas into real-life scenarios, the Mac’s II Agencies Design Team rendered the lighting within the space to ensure the desired illumination effect and lighting levels were achieved. The lighting design includes carefully specified fixtures throughout the administration building, ensuring optimal light levels and desired effects:

• Sunken Fireplace Area: Sheltered from the elements, this area features dim-to-warm tape light from Liteline around the fireplace, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
• Provisions Centre: Equipped with DELTA LED track fixtures from Liteline, this area benefits from directional lighting that highlights key products.
• General Illumination: Throughout the facility, the Sculpt fixtures from Axis Lighting are installed in surface-mounted linear segments, complementing the linear design elements of the space.

Previously operating out of customized storage containers, the new administration building marks a significant upgrade. This new facility not only meets the increased demand but also provides a comfortable environment for both staff and visitors, on rainiest of days.
